Roger Staubach is a Hall of Fame player and considered one of the top 10 greatest NFL quarterbacks of all-time.  He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 10th round of the 1964 NFL Draft.  Prior to being drafted, Roger Staubach attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1963.  After graduating, he served in the U.S. Navy, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam.   Below is a look at his career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 6x Pro Bowl
  • 2x Super Bowl Champion

Roger Staubach’s rookie card is in the 1972 Topps set along with fellow Hall of Famers Ted Hendricks, Larry Little and Charlie Joiner.  Over the last two years, he has been sporadically responding to TTM requests.  Most of the time, your item will come back personalized and signed by an autopen.  Previously, I tried three times using a low-end base card and including a cash donation.  Each time, I received my card back ruined by an autopen while others had success without sending any donation.

There is zero rhyme or reason for why certain items are signed and others receive the autopen treatment.  I decided to try one more time before giving up completely and waiting for a paid signing.  I purchased a raw card on eBay and sent it in a bubble mailer with a donation and a blue sharpie.  While he did not use my sharpie, he did include the inscriptions that I requested.  Overall, I am very happy with this return and can cross him off my want list.
