Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a Hall of Fame center who was drafted with the 1st pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1969 NBA Draft.  Prior to joining the NBA, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won 3 NCAA Championships while playing at UCLA.  He is widely considered the greatest college basketball player of all-time.  Everything about him is iconic, from his unstoppable skyhook, to the protective goggles he wore during games to his work off the court to promote equality.  Below is a look at some of his career accomplishments.

  • 19x All-Star
  • 15x All-NBA
  • 11x All-Defensive Team
  • 2x Scoring Champion
  • 6x NBA Champion
  • 6x MVP
  • 1969 Rookie of the Year

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s rookie card is in the 1969 Topps set along with fellow Hall of Fame players Elvin Hayes, John Havlicek, Earl Monroe, Chet Walker, Jerry Lucas, Dave Bing, Gail Goodrich, Walt Frazier and Bill Bradley.  When I decided to sell off some of my collection, I wanted to re-invest it by adding legendary sports figures.  This was the first card that I purchased as a long-term investment.  In my opinion, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is an iconic sports legend. As a result, his impact on the game will not be forgotten.  Basketball continues to grow in popularity around the world, and I believe that within a couple years this card will be worth over $1,000.  Based on recent eBay comps, the card has already increased in value by 15%.
