Hank Aaron is a Hall of Fame baseball player and an American icon.  He made his professional debut with the Milwaukee Braves, which later became the Atlanta Braves.  Hammerin’ Hank broke Babe Ruth’s career home run record on April 8th, 1974 when he launched an Al Downing pitch over the outfield fence for career #715.  He is a member of the exclusive 3,000 hits / 500 home runs club with Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Willie Mays, Rafael Palmeiro and Eddie Murray.

Below is a look at some of Hank Aaron’s career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 25x All-Star
  • 3x Gold Glove
  • 2x Batting Title Champion
  • 1x MVP
  • 1x World Series Champion

Hank Aaron’s rookie card is in the 1954 Topps set alongside fellow Hall of Famers Ernie Banks and Al Kaline.  His rookie card is considered one of the most iconic cards of all-time and is part of PSA’s Mount Rushmore of baseball trading cards.  This was the first card that I purchased as a long-term investment.  The idea of owning a piece of American history was too hard to pass up.  I purchased a PSA 1 on eBay and cracked it open to get autographed at a paid signing.  It took nearly a year for this card to come back from PSA, but I am excited to see it slabbed and in my collection.
