Gerald Wilkins is a former NBA shooting guard. He was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2nd round of the 1985 NBA Draft. While Gerald Wilkins had a decent career, he was thrown into the spotlight during the NBA Playoffs when he was unfairly deemed “The Jordan Stopper”. To say, he struggled guarding Michael Jordan would be an understatement.
Gerald Wilkins’ rookie card is in the iconic 1986 Fleer set. Typically, he is not the caliber of player that I would add to my collection. However, the connection to Michael Jordan, coupled with his rookie card being in the 1986 Fleer set, along with a cool image on the card, made this a must have. I purchased a raw card on eBay and sent it into a paid signing along with a new silver sharpie. I asked for the inscription “The Jordan Stopper” which he added but unfortunately, he then gave a very short signature.
Currently there are only 12 autographed 1986 Fleer Gerald Wilkins rookie cards in the PSA registry.
