Dwight Howard is a future Hall of Fame center. He was drafted by the Orlando Magic, straight out of high school, with the 1st pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he made an immediate impact and averaged a double-double. However, he lost the honor of Rookie of the Year to Emeka Okafor. Throughout his career, he has been a polarizing player. Gifted with all the physical tools to dominate games, often times he felt out of a place on the offensive side as the game transitioned away from low-post play and he failed to evolve his game. While many NBA analysts may consider him overrated, based on all his defensive awards, he is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
Below is a look at some of Dwight Howard’s career accomplishments and highlights.
- 8x All-Star
- 8x All-NBA
- 5x Rebound Champion
- 5x All-Defensive Team
- 3x Defensive Player of the Year
- 2x Block Champion
- 1x NBA Champion
Dwight Howard’s rookie card is in the 2004 Topps Chrome set alongside fellow All-Star Andre Iguodala. His rookie card has such a cool image that I purchased both a Topps Chrome base and a Topps Chrome Refractor on eBay. I sent them into a paid signing along with a white paint pen and they turned out awesome.
Currently there is only 1 autographed 2004 Topps Chrome Refractor Dwight Howard rookie card in the PSA registry.
