Bailey Howell is a Hall of Fame power forward.  He was drafted with the 2nd pick in the 1959 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.  While he made an immediate impact, his career reached new heights when he was traded to the Boston Celtics.  Red Auerbach traded Mel Counts for Bailey Howell in 1966.  He joined a Celtics roster loaded with future Hall of Famers such as Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Don Nelson, K.C. Jones, Satch Sanders, Wayne Embry and Sam Jones.

Below is a look at some of Bailey Howell’s career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 6x All-Star
  • 2x NBA Champion

Bailey Howell’s rookie card is in the 1961 Fleer set.  This set is loaded with Hall of Fame rookie cards such as Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Sam Jones, Richie Guerin and Lenny Wilkens.  Over the years, Bailey Howell has been great to fans that send autograph requests TTM.  I purchased a 1961 Fleer PSA 8 on eBay and cracked it open to get autographed.  I sent the card in a bubble mailer along with a blue sharpie and donation.  The card came back a week later and it was signed perfectly with the inscriptions that I requested.
