Sonny Jurgensen is a Hall of Fame quarterback. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 4th round of the 1957 NFL Draft.  During his rookie season, he was the backup quarterback as the team went on to win an NFL Championship.  The following year, he took over as starter and set an NFL record with 3,723 passing yards and tying the record for touchdown passes (32).   After an injury plagued season, he was traded to the Washington Redskins where he finished his career.  Sonny Jurgensen is widely recognized as the best pure passer of his time and his 82.62 career passer rating is the highest for any player in the “Dead Ball Era”.

Below is a look at some of Sonny Jurgensen’s career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 5x Pro Bowl
  • 1x All-Pro
  • 1x NFL Champion

Sonny Jurgensen’s rookie card is in the 1958 Topps set alongside fellow Hall of Famer Jim Brown.  Over the years, he has been fantastic to fans and quickly returns TTM requests with a $10 donation.  I purchased a raw card on eBay and sent it in a plain white envelope.  The card turned out perfectly.
