Peyton Manning is arguably one of the top 5 NFL quarterbacks of all-time.  He is a lock to be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year as a first ballot nominee.  Peyton Manning was drafted with the 1st pick in the 1998 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts.  While Tom Brady may have won more Super Bowl Championships, I think Peyton Manning was more talented.  His ability to read defenses coupled with his precision passing puts him a notch above in my book.  Below is a look at some of his career achievements and highlights.

  • 14x Pro Bowl
  • 7x All-Pro
  • 5x NFL MVP
  • 2x Super Bowl Champion

Peyton Manning’s preferred rookie card is in the 1998 SP Authentic set along with Hall of Famers Randy Moss and Charles Woodson.   Peyton Manning has been great to his fans throughout the years.  During his playing career, he would sign TTM via the stadium.  Currently he signs TTM with a donation to his foundation.  In the last two years, he has become more selective in what he will sign TTM.  He will no longer sign rookie cards or any card that has an image of him wearing a Tennessee jersey.  He is one of my favorite athletes so when his recent paid signing was announced, I purchased a 1998 SP Authentic Beckett 9 and a 1998 Topps Chrome Refractor PSA 9 that I cracked open.

Autographed Peyton Manning 1998 SP Authentic Rookie Card

Currently there are only 14 autographed Peyton Manning 1998 SP Authentic rookie cards in the PSA registry.  I wanted to add this card as a long-term investment as I think it has the potential to reach similar levels as Tom Brady’s high-end autographed rookie cards which are in the $10,000+ range.  Since I purchased the 1998 SP Authentic rookie card, the value of the unsigned card as risen from $500 to over $5,000.
