Jerry West is a Hall of Fame guard and a member of the NBA Top 50 players of all-time.  He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 2nd pick in the 1960 NBA Draft.  Jerry West is the only player to be named NBA Finals MVP despite being on the losing team.  After his playing career, he went on to be one of the most successful NBA executives in the game.

Below is a look at some of Jerry West’s career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 14x All-Star
  • 12x All-NBA
  • 5x All-Defensive Team
  • 1x Scoring Champion
  • 1x NBA Champion
  • 1968-69 NBA Finals MVP

Jerry West’s rookie card is in the 1961 Fleer set.  One of my biggest collecting regrests is not purchasing a rookie card at the beginning of the year.  Earlier in the year, I made a list of players that I was betting on that would rise in value and Jerry West’s rookie was on my eBay watchlist.  I didn’t pull the trigger sooner because I was told that Jerry West would not participate in any paid signings this year.  As luck would have it, a paid signing popped up last month and I did not have time to pick up a rookie card.  I decided to send in a 1971 Topps because I really like the design and thought it would be awesome signed.
