Gaylord Perry is a Hall of Fame pitcher. In the early 1950s, he played semi-professionally in Texas. It wasn’t until 1958 when he signed his first major league contract with the San Francisco Giants. Gaylord Perry was the first pitcher to win a Cy Young Award in both the American (1972) and National League (1978). He went on to have a long career and finished as a member of the 300 wins / 3,000 strikeout club.
