Dennis Eckersley is a Hall of Fame pitcher.  He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians right out of high school in the 3rd round of the 1972 MLB Amateur Draft.  Early in his career, he had success as a starter, but he is more famously known as a closer.  Dennis Eckersley was the first pitcher in MLB history to have both a 20-win season and a 50-save season in a career.

Below is a look at some of Dennis Eckersley’s career accomplishments and highlights.

  • 6x All-Star
  • 2x Rolaids Relief Award Winner
  • 1x MVP
  • 1x CY Young Award Winner

Dennis Eckersley’s rookie card is in the 1976 Topps set.  Throughout the years, he has been very hit or miss TTM.  I purchased a raw card on eBay and sent it in a bubble mailer with a blue sharpie and $20.  While he didn’t use my sharpie or add any inscriptions, I was happy to get it back signed in under a week.
