Antonio Gates is a former Pro Bowl tight end and a future Hall of Famer. He signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2003 after playing college basketball for Kent State University. At 6’4 and 255 pounds, he was a huge athletic target and by his 2nd season, he was named to the Pro Bowl. He went on to play 16 seasons with the Chargers and retired as the team’s career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Below is a look at some of Antonio Gates’ career accomplishments.
- 8x Pro Bowl
- 3x All-Pro
Antonio Gates preferred rookie card is in the 2003 Leaf Rookies & Stars set. Throughout his playing career, it was very difficult to get his autograph TTM. I was fortunate to get a couple cards signed during his final season in the NFL. However, I wanted to upgrade to his rookie card. I sold the cards that I got TTM and used the money to buy a raw card on eBay which I sent into a paid signing.
Currently there are only 4 autographed 2003 Leaf Rookies & Stars Antonio Gates rookie cards in the PSA registry.
